2011 World Cup Calendar: The final will take place in Zakopane (ISMF press note)

The strategy of the International Ski Mountaineering Foundation, aimed at increasing the interest in ski mountaineering through the involvement of an ever growing number of national associations, has an important outcome already in 2011’s World Cup calendar.

2009/2010: Austrian media-work in ski mountaineering (AT)

One of the most criticized topics in ski mountaineering is the lack of media impact in most of the races. The Austrian media clipping of ski mountaineering in the season 2009/2010 just has been finished and is ready to be published, it is a good example of how it could be.

19-20/06: Two new federations have joined the ISMF after the decision of the plenary assembly in Salzburg

Two new national federations have joined the International Ski Mountaineering Federation. Britain and Sweden were welcomed to the great family of the ISMF at the end of the plenary assembly which took place last Saturday in Salzburg. This was seen as the further token of the ever growing interest in alpine skiing in the world.
A constructive meeting which saw the approval of new regulations concerning the sprint competitions, which should become three in the 2011 world cup edition and whose exact dates will be made official in the forthcoming weeks.

The President of ISMF, Mr. Lluis Lopez, confirmed today with an sms that ISMF was accepted as member of Sportaccord, the general association of all international sport federations, during its General Assembly celebrated this week in Dubai.

The ISMF presents the Big Race. The circuit in the international circuit

Thursday 22nd April 2010 is a historic day for the development of the international ski mountaineering. In the Swiss city Verbier, the day before the famous Patrouille des Glaciers, the last race of the World Cup circuit, a new formula for the 2011 season of ski mountaineering has been presented.

11/04: Japan Championship in Tsugaike (JP)

The ISMF homologated ski-mountaineering Japan championship & Asia cup 2nd race was held in Tsugaike, Nagano, Japan on April 11th , 2010.
Although the racers were hampered by rain and fog, they followed the original 12-km course with its 1420 m vertical difference. The course passes through a dramatic forest at an altitude of 1500 m to 2000 m.

07/04: NEW Record Chamonix-Zermatt, 20h.28m.05s (FR)

At 20h28 minutes & 5 seconds: The RECORD from Chamonix to Zermatt was beaten. Two french army members, Laurent FABRE and Yann GACHET arrived in Zermatt 43 minutes ahead of the previous record.

0304: Dogtooth Dash: Canadian Skimo Championships and citizen's Poker Race at Kicking House (CA)

Following races at Sunshine 5/6 February, and Whitewater 5/6 March, visits to USSMA competitions south of the border, and trips to the World Championships in Andorra, our Elite category racers hope to improve their individual standings at this concluding high quality event close to home. At the same time, our Citizen/Recreational skiers, experienced or otherwise, will be able to have fun, challenge their backcountry skills, and win some great prizes in a novelty ‘Poker’ race over a shorter, but no less interesting, course. Both will start and finish together, at the Eagles Eye Restaurant atop the ski hill, where the après party will plug in later Saturday.
