06/01: Laserzlauf 2012 – a hard start of the Dynafit Austria Skitour Cup (AT)

by Filippo BeccariAt the start of winter it seemed, that no snow at all would come – exactly to the start of the DYNAFIT Austria Skitour Cup winter is finally here with all his might. The 29th edition of the Laserzlauf was massively influenced by heavy winds, snowfall and arctic temperatures.

Already 2 days prior of the race, the mountain guides have transferred the race to a secure alternative itinerary, as the weather forecast has been really bad. OC-Chief Markus Hber says: „Security has priority 1, this is why the itineary has been changed in prior. Last night the storm came as forcasted,and we were more than happy to have made the change already. At the original itenary a race would have been impossible, as we had wind with more than 50 km/h and really bad sight.”

Each one of the finally 115 started athletes can be proud of himself for his start – to run a race under such hard conditions is really a challenge!

Foto Werbegams Both at female and male categories, Italians dominated the race with great performances: with a race time of 1:23:49,0 Philippo Beccari won the men’s race, Andrea Innerhofer got her victory with 1:45:14,8. Andrea Innerhofer, the winner of last years Austria Skitour Cup showed herewith, that she is in good position for a second overall-victory again. Second rank at the men’s categorie was run by the Italian Christof Niederwieser, on rank 3 there ist he first Austrian: Tyrolean member of the national team Martin Weißkopf made himself a big present with this result on his „backyard-track“ near his hometown Prägraten. The unlucky 4th place was gathered by the Italian Paul Innerhofer, who
was the fastest on the highest point, but due to bad sight and bad track conditions.Men’s masters category was – again – won by the Salzburgian policeman Hans Wallinger in 1:30:30,3.by Filippo Beccari

by Philip BruggerAlthough the race was switched to a alternative itenary it is clear after todays race, that the Laserzlauf is one of the most difficult races in Austria. Already on Sunday, 8.1.2012 the next station oft he DYNAFIT Austria Skitour Cup fires off: the Jennerstier in Berchtesgaden will be held as national championship in vertical discipline for Austria as well as for Germany.
