TRANSCAVALLO WORLD CUP ISMF - The third stage of ski mountaineering World Cup is now lifted (IT)

The curtain on the 28th Transcavallo and the third stage of ski mountaineering World Cup is now lifted.
The start and finish lines move to Val Salatis but the groove of Porteta will be faced with confidence.
Three hundred shovels will be given as gift for "Save your life".

This (or yesterday) morning at the headquarters of Dolomiti Turismo in Belluno was presented the two days of the international ski mountaineering cup scheduled for next weekend (5th and 6th February) on the snow of the Alpago area.

The World Cup test, reserved to nationals and athletes with international card ISMF will be held on Saturday morning. With about ten minutes apart, in conjunction with the test of Saturday morning, will take place the race of Young. The Mazzoran and Saviane Trophy, offered as a prize to Young categories, will be open to all. This race is also particylarly important for the blue engineers who will carry the teams ahead the World Cup of Claut (Valcellina) scheduled from 18th to 25th February.

On Sunday morning will be the turn of the teams members of FISI who will compeete on the ridges of Mount Guslon. After a few editions of absence the athletes will face the steep channel between Val Salatis and Vallazza. A spectacular passage, set among the rocks with slopes in excess of fifty degrees, will be to dealt with crampons and ensured with ropes.

Vittorio Romor, president of the ski club Dolomiti Ski Alp, at the end of the presentation has explained the key elements in this twenty-eighth edition. Unfortunately, due to poor snow on the south side of Col Indes, all the logistics of the start and the arrival lines have been moved to Val Salatis, located in the county town of Chies d'Alpago.

The race track of Saturday and Sunday has been defined during the technical meeting on last Thursday evening, attended by the leaders of the track, the representatives of the Alpine Rescue, the Fire-Brigade and the men of the State Forestry Corps. The weather forecast doesn't give us any hope for snow in short term and therefore the decision of moving the headquarters to Val Salatis is final.

The landlord Ennio Soccal has presented the guests attending the conference. Corrado Claudio Azzalini wanted to express his special thanks to the volunteers that support him since more than ten years. "Our real object – assured the president of Transcavallo – is not just organize a ski mountaineering race but also work for the development of our territory. We want to make the Alpago area known in winter and bring the ski mountaineering lovers to our peaks".

In addition to thank and place the utmost confidence in over two hundred people working for the Transcavallo, Azzalini has underlined the important support received from Veneto Region, the Province of Belluno, from BIM, the Municipality of Tambre and the Comunità Montana of Alpago.

The ski mountaineering in the Alpago area has grown up through Transcavallo – said Ivan De Min, Councillor of the Mountain Community - but now we are developing together with the Tourist Union some new projects for the upgrade of the area. First of all the idea is to create a new school of ski mountaineering. Also the president of the FISI Committee of Veneto has given his full support to the event that he has seen growing over the years. "I am sure that these races and ski mountaineering will have the recognitions they deserve, mybe the Olympic." - said Bortoluzzi.

Lorenza De Kunovich, Councillor of the Province of Belluno, Oscar Fullin, Mayor of Tambre and Fulvio Basso, Cauncillor of the Municipality of Farra d'Alpago have respectively considered Sport Events as an opportunity to promote the whole Province and each Municipality.

After two years the project "Save your life" is back in Alpago in cooperation with the firm Camp: the first three hundred fans and enthusiasts who will venture up the fixed points (Col de Banca on Saturday and the peak of Mount Guslon on Sunday) will receive a first-aid Shovel. The Gorilla Bruce will deliver the bracelet to receive the first-aid Shovel at Tambre and he has already been spotted roaming the Alpago mountains.
